Happy 6th birthday Daegen.  What a day you must be having in heaven.  I know you are looking down on all of us and smiling as you always did.  You are such a sweet boy and so giving and caring.  You always thought of others first and up until the day you died you continued to share your toys and things, even your most prized possessions, Thomas the Train trains, with others.  I was so proud to watch as you gave your trains to people so they could enjoy them.  You gave away many of your knitted angels and butterflies.  I am not sure if you realized how important that was to us all but if I had to guess, you knew exactly what you were doing.  Enjoy this day as we celebrate with Alexa’s class at school with treats and your kindergarten class at school with treats.  I hope they all enjoy your treats and smile like you surely are doing.

I promise the rest of this will be short.  I have so much to say but I will be brief.  Our family along with some of Janelle’s family always adopts a family for Christmas.  Janelle called the Christmas bureau and her only request was that the family has a small child.  When we finally received the letter in the mail with the family information Janelle and I were extremely surprised.  The family’s last name was Degan, pronounced just like Daegen’s name.  What are the odds of that happening.  Daegen was certainly letting us know he was with us this Christmas.

Now on to Janelle.  Many of you know she has been having some medical problems since the summer.  She was finally referred to Mayo Clinic and since then has made three trips to Minnesota.  I don’t have any news to relay except that the doctors still can not diagnose what is wrong with Janelle.  Janelle and I still believe it could be MS but when they did her MRI there were no lesions on her brain so I guess they can’t diagnose that.  We are not even sure at this point that it is neurological.  It more than likely is but on Janelle’s last visit she asked the doctor if it could be something other than neurological.  The doctor told Janelle it could be many things but never elaborated on what any things it could be.  The doctor also told Janelle that there is basically nothing else that can be done for her but if things get worse to go to the local hospital first.  Not the best news since Janelle continues to have symptoms and does not know what is wrong with her.

Alexa has been doing great in the 5th grade.  She has a role in the junior high musical for 5th-8th graders.  She is a fair goer and has a few lines.  The musical is “The Secret Garden” which she is also reading in class now.  She is so excited to be involved with this and has been learning quite a bit about acting.  She even has to walk hand in hand with a 6th grade boy.  She is not really excited about that so I have to give her a hard time as often as I can.

Our house is coming along slowly but surely.  We are installing the electrical wiring now.  I have a co-worker who is very experienced in this area and he is doing my electrical work with my help along with my dad and my brother Jeff.  With any luck I will have done everything I was supposed to and our house does not burn down.

Janelle and I want to thank everyone for all of their support and kind words.  Please remember to take time and sign the guestbook.  Janelle and I love to read what others are feeling.  We are quietly celebrating Daegen’s birthday this year.  We will be going to eat at Bennigan’s, the same place we ate for dinner on Daegen’s last birthday.  Please continue to pray for Janelle and her doctors so she can get some answers.  Not knowing is very frightening.  Please share any memories you have of Daegen or any birthday wishes you might have for him.  God Bless all of you.
