I want to update everyone on Daegen and his Bone Marrow Aspiration.  He had the procedure on Tuesday and we are still waiting final results.  I spoke with the doctor and he said that under the microscope, everything looks fine.  Janelle and I have heard that before and then when the final results came in, everything was not fine.  I am not being negative just cautious before I pass on any news.  The doctor did say that he should have more results on Friday at Daegen’s appointment.  

Daegen had a free day on Thursday which was pretty nice.  He has been loving being out of the hospital and really enjoys his freedom.  We try to make it to the toddler room whenever possible.  

There has been quit a bit of activity the last several days at Target House.  On Tuesday in the dining room of Target House II there was a showing of Shrek 2.  Daegen has not seen the original Shrek and I was curious to see if he would watch Shrek 2.  Well, he made it through the movie only covering his eyes a few times.  There was a Shrek piñata hanging behind our table.  The piñata caught Daegen’s eye early on.  Several times throughout the movie he asked me if anything was going to happen with the piñata.  I finally told Daegen that we could go ask the people hosting the movie.  Daegen gladly learned that after the movie kids would be taking their turn hitting the piñata.  Daegen was about the third kid to hit the piñata and did knock out some candy.  The next kid to hit the piñata busted it open so all the candy fell out.  I kind of had a feeling that all the older kids would be diving for the candy and I was right.  I purposely kept Daegen back so he would not get smashed as one little kid did.  Don’t’ worry, one of the people hosting the party noticed Daegen did not get much candy so he rounded some up for Daegen and gave it to him.  Daegen was very proud that he was able to watch the movie in its entirety.  

On Wednesday in the dining room of Target House II there was a showing of Princess Diaries 2.  This movie is not even out for rent yet.  A representative from California brought the movie to Target House to view.  This is more a movie that Alexa likes, but Daegen again watched the whole movie.  I must say Daegen was less interested but he did like it.  

There was a special visitor to Target House on Thursday.  Julie Andrews, star of Princess Diaries and Princess Diaries 2 and countless other movies visited the kids.  I am proud to say that Daegen was well behaved, unlike many of the other children.  I was kind of embarrassed as some children were climbing on the chair that Julie Andrews was sitting in.  Several times she pulled the kids up to sit by her.  I was eagerly watching her PR man and I could tell this is not something that he or possibly even Julie Andrews wanted.  However, she was in a position being filmed for the news that she kind of had to allow the kids to do that or look like an ogre.  She was very gracious.  There was even a mandatory meeting before the showing of Princess Diaries 2 to go over some ground rules for her visit.  Apparently some people don’t listen or don’t care to respect others request or rights.  After she answered some questions she took a group photograph with the kids then autographed some books for each child.  Daegen being the shutter bug that he is did get some good pictures of Julie Andrews.  I am anxious to get his camera developed.  While he was sitting next to her for the group photo he asked her if he could take her picture.  She told him that he was a little close but after the group photo he could step back and take the picture.  Daegen listened and finally got his picture.  When Daegen went through the line for the autograph, Julie told him “We meet again.”  I was able to finagle another book for Alexa which Julie autographed as well.  There will be some photos on the website soon with Daegen and Julie Andrews.  The house manager did thank me for having a child that was well behaved.  I had to credit mom for that quality.

On Monday, Michael Bearenstein from the Bearenstein Bears will be at Target House II for a pajama party and book reading.  Daegen and I had to go buy him some slippers since one of the rules is that shoes must be worn at all times in Target House.  We did not bring his SpongeBob Squarpants slippers.  He decided on a pair just like I have.  I was touched by his loyalty to me, ha ha.  I really thank Daegen will get more out of the Bearenstein Bears than he did out of Julie Andrews.  He did keep saying to me that he wanted to go up and talk to Julie Andrews. He finally told her “I saw you in the movie last night.”  I could tell he was excited to be talking to her.
