I wanted to let everyone know that both days of Daegen’s bone marrow transplants went well.  The first day started around 6:35 p.m. and lasted about 10 minutes.  Daegen had to be monitored until 11:00 p.m..  The transplant was again kind of anti-climactic.  Daegen was very eager to get the medicine (stem cells) but not because they were from me.  You see, we told him it was his ‘re-birthday’ and we had a cake for him.  He wanted the medicine so he could light the candles, blow them out and then eat the cake.  After waiting for some time for the stem cells to make it to his room Daegen was growing impatient because he wanted his cake.  When the transfusion was finally complete we lit the candles and sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to him.  He blew out the candles and wanted to dig into the cake.  The only problem was he did not like the cake and he let us know afterwards he didn’t like it.  We were kind of limited since we could not bring a cake in from the outside and had to order what the cafeteria had on hand, Lemon.

The second day of the transplant started around 5:35 p.m. and lasted about five minutes.  During the transplant Daegen decided he was hungry so he started to eat ravioli.  The nurse said this is the first time she has ever seen a patient eat while getting his transplant.

We have to wait till day 21, around October 05, 2004 for a bone marrow aspiration.  Hopefully the results will let us know how the transplanted stem cells are doing.  The first day of the transplant is considered day 0 and the second day was day 1.

Daegen has been singing some Martina McBride songs and Veggie Tales songs to the nurses and staff.  His favorite song to sing is “Independence Day” by Martina McBride.  He is again becoming one of the patients that the nurses want to have as a patient.

The most recent pictures are finally on the website.  The website design was changed around some but it is still the same website.  Don’t forget to sign the guestbook when you visit www.dmanhero.com.  Thanks to everyone for all their prayers and support.  God Bless.
